Dear Luis:

	This is to supplement our telephone conversation as I have had a
few more thoughts.  First, as I told you because of Jon Doyle's departure
to Carnegie-Mellon, I will have some financial flexibility this academic year
assuming that our DARPA contract comes through unshrunk.  I anticipate no
difficulties, but I expect I'll know more at the end of the month.

	I have discussed inviting you as a Visiting Professor for a period
of mutually convenient duration, and have received a generally favorable
response from the few other faculty members to whom I have spoken.
We can discuss it further.  A research visit is less work to organize.

	I also want to invite Antonio Porto.  If you and he have resum\'es
and may be interested in visiting some time next year, it would help
to bring them to Long Beach.
